The "Culottées" exhibition unveils its boards at the Hyères Media Library

Known for her blogging work, Pénéloppe Bagieu has made her mark in the world of comics with some thirty books and numerous press articles. This work allows her to express her feminist ideas with humor.
Now internationally recognized for her comics and as a 21st-century feminist icon, she is the subject of an exhibition held at the media library since yesterday.
The library has hung original plates and reproductions representing the artist's work in the lobby and gallery. "We are very pleased to highlight the creative power of a woman," says Romain Béréni, the library's director, adding this event to the series dedicated to graphic novel authors.
In terms of comics, the media library has recently offered some great exhibitions by Charles Berbérian (author of the poster for the next Hyères book festival) and Loustal.
In addition to the exhibition (on view until May 31), the media library is offering a series of activities to highlight comics. Drawing competition "Draw your comic book heroine": April 26 and May 10 at 2:30 p.m., Reading club on the graphic novel: May 17 at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., radio show hosted by the Bande des comics: May 24, 31 and June 7 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., introductory comic book workshop hosted by Stéphane Knecht, drawing competition awards ceremony June 14 at 2:30 p.m.
Media library opening hours: Tuesday, Thursday: 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
A private view and a rantThe artist did not make the trip and the opening only attracted about twenty people to the Media Library , "90% of whom were elected officials." Two elements that annoyed Jean-Pierre Giran. His short opening speech brought a breath of fresh air to the gallery. "It's not worthy of the city of Hyères," grumbles the mayor, specifying that even if he finds the exhibition "demanding," he is not criticizing the quality of the artist or his works, but the lack of ambition of the media library. "You try to bring a place to life culturally, but you have to put more resources and more communication into it, otherwise it doesn't work and we don't serve the cause."
